As with trademarks, the number of EU designs (EUDs) also increased in 2025, as the EUIPO received 130,849 design applications, with a 6% increase. For the first time, applications from non-EU countries accounted for the majority of design filings (52%). China was the main source of non-EU EUDs, with an 18.4% increase in applications, followed by the United Kingdom (+17.8%) and the United States (+8.4%).
Among EU members, Germany led the ranking with the highest number of applications (13.4%), followed by Italy (10.5%), Poland (4.2%), France (4%), and Spain (3.4%).
