The Italian Court of Cassation has confirmed that the “CE” (China Export) logo affixed to toys intended for the European market, which differs from the CE (European Community) logo only by the slightly greater distance between the two letters, written in the same font, constitutes a crime under Article 515 of the Criminal Code (commercial fraud), since the European marking also represents a guarantee of conformity with European quality and safety standards for the product being purchased.
Therefore, the fraud remains even if the toys were otherwise safe.
