The Argentine Trademark Office (INPI) is taking action on the trademark examination procedure, which will be carried out prior to publication for opposition purposes. This examination will focus on absolute grounds and will only consider the presence of earlier identical trademarks for products identical to the applied-for sign: merely “similar” trademarks will no longer be considered. Therefore, greater attention must be paid to monitoring, to enable timely opposition.
