On 13 April 2022, a special law entered into force providing for:

  1. suspension of deadlines starting on 24 February 2022: deadlines will continue starting from the day following the date on which the martial law regime is lifted, taking into account the time that passed before 24 February 2022;
  2. continuation of validity of IP rights for which the deadlines have been suspended;
  3. possibility of paying renewal and annuity fees within 90 days from the date on which the martial law regime is lifted;
  4. possibility for IP applicants/owners to take actions within 90 days from the date on which the martial law regime is lifted without paying any extension fee.

However, as the Ukrainian IP Office has remained open with the e-filing system which is operating, it is advisable that IP applicants/owners, in particular non-residents of Ukraine, follow procedures adopted so far in Ukraine, using the provisions of the above-mentioned special law only in exceptional cases.
